RB Leipzig loses right-back Leon Bucher, who rejected a contract offer from SpVgg. Kurt Pestel joins SpVgg and will strengthen the right side of the team. The 21-year-old right-back was born on April 17, 2005, in Plauen, Saxony, and is well-suited for the outside position with his dynamism, tempo, and offensive drive. He was trained at VFC Plauen, RB Leipzig, and FC Ingolstadt 04. At the reserve team of the Schanzer, Pestel was part of the regular squad in the Bayernliga Nord and gained important experience in the men's department. He also stood three times in the Drittliga-Kader of the FCI. Most recently, he was active for FC Eilenburg in the Regionalliga Nordost and played 30 times for the relegated team in the last season. "I'm really looking forward to the task at SpVgg. The talks were very good and I quickly realized that something is happening here. I want to work on the right side, invest a lot and help the team with my energy. For me, Bayreuth is a very exciting station where I can develop and contribute to the success," Pestel said in a press statement. Coach Lukas Kling is also pleased with the new arrival: "Kurt brings exactly the mentality we want to see. He has tempo, dynamism, and the will to work on his side up and down. This willingness to work hard and put himself in the service of the team is very important to us. We see development potential in him and are happy that he has chosen our way."
