RB Leipzig has signed German footballer Assan Ouédraogo. The 24-year-old can be used flexibly in both defensive and offensive midfield. Ouédraogo moved from Schalke 04 to RB Leipzig in the first German Bundesliga. He received his football education at Schalke 04's youth department, where he also made his first appearances in the men's team. In 2024, he moved to RB Leipzig. His first nomination to the national team was in 2021. He played first in the U16. In 2025, he was nominated for the A-Herren-Nationalmannschaft. He was called up for the injured Amiri and made his debut in the WM-Qualifikationsspiel against Slovakia. In 2023, he was awarded the Fritz-Walter-Medaille in Bronze. The award has been presented annually since 2005 to the young player of the year. Ouédraogo's father, Alassane Ouédraogo, was also a football player and coach.
