RB Leipzig is fighting for a Champions League spot after a horror run of just two wins in their last seven games. The team is no longer in a Champions League position.

What happened?

RB Leipzig was in second place in the table until just before Christmas and was chasing Bayern. Then came a horror run: only two wins, one draw, four defeats. In a table of the last seven games, the Saxons are only in 10th place! Behind teams like Augsburg, Union or Mainz.

Why is this important for RB Leipzig?

The consequence is that for the first time since the 3rd matchday, RB is no longer in a Champions League position. Red alert in the club. And everyone is asking: Where does the slump come from? BILD names the reasons for the downturn.

RB is no longer scoring!

From an average of two goals per game to 1.4 - although the Leipzig team is not creating fewer chances than at the start of the season. But the conversion is subterranean! In the strong phase, RB used 63 percent of its clear chances. Now it's only 18 percent. Notably: Top scorer Christoph Baumgartner has not scored since the 13th matchday and jewel Yan Diomande only once.

Defense is getting leakier!

In the first 13 games, there were only 13 goals conceded, in the last seven games 14. So twice as many on average. The reason: RB is allowing fewer opponent actions, but high-quality ones - great chances for opponents from 0.8 to 2 per game! A clear sign of less bite and concentration and more space in defense. Notably: Xaver Schlager has been in the starting lineup since the negative trend reversal.

Ouédraogo cannot be replaced!

RB manager Marcel Schäfer says: „The injury to Assan Ouédraogo not only hurts him, but also us.“ Agreed! The DFB jewel is irreplaceable for Leipzig. The numbers are dramatic: With midfielder Ouédraogo, RB averaged 2.3 points per game this season, without him only one point. | Stat | Value | | --- | --- | | League standing | 4th in Bundesliga, 56 points, 17 wins, 5 draws, 7 losses | | Last result | SC Freiburg 4-1 RB Leipzig (2026-05-16) | | Injured players | V.
