RB Leipzig have completed the signing of Rocco Reitz from Gladbach. The 24-year-old midfielder, who arrived on a five-year deal until 2031 for a reported €20 million fee, brings leadership and energy to Julian Nagelsmann’s rebuilt squad.

Reitz’s ambitions at RB Leipzig

The new Leipzig midfielder outlined his priorities after arriving in Germany. „We don’t just want one season in the Champions League - we want to stay there,“ Reitz told reporters. He also set his sights on deep cup runs, aiming for the DFB-Pokal final. „Personally, I want to score as many goals as possible, but the team comes first.“ The midfielder also revealed his personal goal: „I want to become a Germany international.“

Why Klopp backed the move

Jürgen Klopp, the incoming Germany manager, knows Reitz well from their time together at Gladbach. The 59-year-old and Leipzig’s sporting leadership value the midfielder’s stamina, pace and tackling ability. „Klopp helped push the deal through after announcing it back in March,“ a Leipzig insider said. Reitz impressed for Germany’s U21, making 17 appearances up to June 2025.

After a tough battle with illness, Reitz is back in training. „It wasn’t easy, but we’re making progress,“ he said. „The load increases daily, then we’ll see when I’m match-fit again.“ Leipzig currently sit third in the Bundesliga with zero points after the opening fixtures, gearing up for their next challenge.
